Recently, I found the following articles regarding historical directories:

• A New Genealogy Website went Online Today: Genealogy Gophers by Dick Eastman at Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter - Dick highlights a new website that searches online historical and genealogical books across the internet, including city and other directories.
• A Free Book in Google Books Lists Details of all Voters in New York City for 1919 also by  Dick Eastman at Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter - call it a "voters' directory" if you will, but this ebook should be helpful for those searching for their NYC ancestors in the late 1910s/early 1920s.
• Women's History Month 2015: City Directories by Gena Philibert-Ortega at Gena's Genealogy - Gena explains how city directories are helpful tools in researching your female ancestors
• Birmingham's Public Library Has Street Name Changes--Does Your Library? by Michael John Neill at Search Tip of the Day - I've added a link to the Birmingham Public Library's Street Name Changes to the Jefferson County, Alabama Online Historical Directories page, by the way.

New Pages and Updates - Part I

It's been a year since I've posted updates. I have done a lot of work this past year, but realized that I had not notified my readers via this blog about them. Two most notable changes: the Eve N Don directory site not only changed its name to Don's List after his wife Eve passed away, it also changed its URL (web address). It took quite a bit of time for me to make the appropriate changes to this site. The second change was when the BYU Digital Books site changed to FamilySearch Books. I'm not done changing all those links. Meantime, you can check them out at FamilySearch Books and do a search for "directory." Additionally, the site Old Directory Search is now offline. I've started to remove some of the dead links, but again, have not gotten to all of them.

I do make mistakes on my website from time to time. And I DO appreciate when someone points them out! The last thing I want is an error or broken link to frustrate my visitors.

Thanks go to Ben Peterson of the Southern History Department at the Birmingham (Alabama) Public Library. I had found two links to Birmingham city directories at Google Books and had posted them on the Jefferson County, Alabama page. Somehow I didn't take the time to read the title page, like I normally do. If I had, I would have realized that these city directories were for Birmingham, England! Ben was kind enough to point this out to me, and I have made the necessary corrections.
